A Long Break

I am back after a long break from blogging which was not intentional, rather, that I had too, if I had to finish the projects. I bought Kannathil Muthammittal DVD as a personal copy. I have slowly started to build my own DVD library. Next in the list are Hey Ram and Dil Chatha Hai. And I am reading through the Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister series once again.

Unpredictable Melbourne climate - People say 'Dont you like the climate ?' - just wait for two minutes, the weather will change. This statement has been true for the last three days in Melbourne. Rainy, Windy, Sunny, Chilly - you name it, we experience it here on a single day.

So many things to write in the blog, but nothing concrete.

One for the Astronautix

The space probe Galileo was allowed to crash into the Jupiter on Sep 21 after 14 yrs of tireless journey into the far corners of the universe. Launched from the space shuttle Atlantis in 1989, Galileo has been sending back images of the space and Jupiter especially for such a long time. It look nearly 6 yrs for Galileo to reach Jupiter. The fuel in the probe has decreased and hence the reason for the final spot for the probe. How fitting..

I met the baby girl and the woman again ysy on the train from the univ to home. The lady remembered me and we had a nice chat about the Davis Cup between Australia and Switzerland (which Aus won) and the cricket series between Aus and India due in Nov / Dec 2003. Maybe I will meet her again..

One of the few websites about personalities where the site actually describes the personality. Click to Anita Ratnam's site. For the persons, who do not know who she is, the grand daughter of T V Sunderam Iyengar and famous danseuse, she also acted in Kandukondain Kandukondain.

Good, Bad and Ugly

Went to the movie yet another time, the difference is that this was a digitally remastered version with extra 30 mins of footage that was not available in the original version. I really had a nice time with three of my friends.

Bravo, Bravo

There has been serious trouble brewing between S.Ve.Shekher (whose dramas I listen to almost everynight) and Bhaskaran (nephew of Sasikala) about the cable tv rates in Tamilnadu. These two have been exchanging a war of words through the print media. I read through the latest issue of Junior Vikatan in which SVS has given his reply to Bhaskaran's views printed last week. Never mind, that I am a diehard fan of SVS, but this is the way that one who believes in what he is doing should write to his accusers. The article is in tamil, but very interesting to read. Bravo SVS, Bravo..

Pic of a Ghost ?

Some days back, there was a mention about a phogtograph of a ghost doing the rounds in schools and colleges around Trichy, but later somebody described it as a fake. Neverthelesss, I was able to catch hold of the photo and here it is. Have a look..

Very letdown

I dont know why, but I am feeling very emotional about everything now. Sometimes, it is like, I care a damn about it, but some other time, it is bugging me a lot. Ysy was my paternal grandfather's ninth anniversary and I was wondering about how vividly I remember the day he died. Nine years back, and it all seems like ysy.

Last three days, have been pure hell. Project submission, part time work and lack of sleep.. Maybe this is the reason for being very letdown. Let me take a break from everything, well not from blogging.

Gang of Friends

Maha has written about his experiences with this gang of friends at a recent marriage of one of them. I can truely understand about what he feels after knowing some of them very well personally. Maybe, he is looking for a suitable bride as well. Well, buddy, here is how I can help.

Readers of the fairer sex, if single and looking for that special person, head to Maha's way, I can guarentee that he is a top class fellow and very amiable as well. He had quite a following in college, to say the least. AND he knows that bit about LOVE.

Breakthrough Technology ?

Atmospheric Water Technology from the USA is holding the intellectual property rights of a device that manufactures water from air !!. The cost of the system varies around $1600 to $2 million. But whether that is possible with the air pollution present in India remains to be seen. News Article from rediff.com.

Hard Pressed for time

My Parallel programming assignment is leaving me no time for sleep. If I do sleep, it is with dreams of parallel programming. But, all for the sake of getting points in the assignment.

I saw a beautiful child yesterday on the metro on the way to univ. The girl child seemed to be around 2 - 2.5 years old; She looked very cute in a pram with her mother beside her. Gurgling and smiling and pointing.. I wondered why she was not replying to her mom's statements.. Because a 2.5 yr old kid can start talking. When the mom turned the pram around, then I saw the horror.. She had an opening fixed in her throat which helps to take out sputum and this was the reason she could not talk. I asked the mother about this and she said that her child had this since birth, and docs have said that it could not be done away with. And I used to think, I have all the problems in the world.

Expertdabbler's Birthday

My friend Prabukarthik a.k.a. Expertdabbler in the blogworld should be celebrating his birthday today. I tried to call him today morning (2:30 AM AEST), but could not get the lines connected. Thats the problem when we try to use phone cards. And this is the weekend, which clogs the lines more than the usual. Many more happy returns of the day, buddy !!

Nice Story

Just ysy me and Chandru were talking about this personality who was beaten up by a group of thugs and was badly injured in the face. With the help of GOD and a plastic surgeon, he got back his youthfullness and now is a big star in Hollywood. If you are eager to know the full story and the name of the actor, click to Maha's Chronicles. I was just wondering whether this could be mental telepathy ? I was involved in a conversation on the same topic just ysy evening, and today he posts a message on the same lines, eventhough we havent talked about this.

Oz land Stat

Watching the telly ysy (yesterday) night.. The news reader provided some interesting factx about Aussie work style. Average working Aussies worked 31 hrs less per year than in the last 10 years. It was around 1360 hrs in 1990 and now it has dropped down to around 1320 hrs. I wonder what is the stat for India. Maybe we have increased our working hrs for the whole year.

Critical Review

There was a critical review of a research proposal of one of the courses (Software Engg Case Studies) today morning. I was provided with an idea of how experts would judge the paper (Paul Gruba and Mike Ciavarella - my tutors) totally demolished the paper from the start to the end. For example, there was a sentence that said 'use of multifaceted defect tracking systems' - Mike felt that it would have made more sense if the sentence were 'use of feature rich defect tracking systems'. And many more like this. Phew !! But it was good to hear all these constructive criticisms at the start and not at the end.

Parallel Programming

I am grappling with Parallel Programming in Java, so am unable to post regularly. I still unable to comprehend the subtle differences between Java Client Server programming and Parallel Programming. I have to finish the assignment by this weekend.

I missed Vinayaka Chaturthi this year. Missed all the sweets (kozhakattais), missed everybody back home.
