Watched the movie Pithamagan as a part of the exams completion celebrations. Really fantastic movie. I think almost everybody has done really well in the movie - Vikram, Surya, Laila everybody. Might go for a DVD copy of the movie at a later stage.

Completed my exams and now I am free to work full time in Australia. But there is loads of work to be done for applying for Permanent Residentship (PR) here. Have to apply for a temporary visa before the Dec 18, as the Dept of Immigration is on leave from Dec 18 to Jan 6 for Christmas holidays. Hope everything goes well.

My date with the Indian Cricket team

On the day of completion of exams, I headed off to the MCG to watch the three day tour match between India and Victoria. I am sorry for not being able to take a photograph of this occasion.

I saw Dravid, Tendulkar, Paarthiv Patel, Ganguly, Balaji, Nehra, Zaheer Khan, Bhajji, Sehwag, Ramesh and Akash Chopra. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the team playing. It seemed to me that they are just like a group of kids in whites playing. As soon as I came in, Bhajji captured a wicket by throwing the ball back into the batsman's stumps. All the more reason for enjoyment. Bhajji came out to field at the long-on position, and immediately we were shouting and cheering for him. Couple of Punjabis also cheered him in their language. He dint glance towards us for sometime, and suddenly, he turned and smiled at everyone of us. Dravid too did the same, he came out and stood near the long-on fence, and turned towards us from time to time. The result of the match is not a cause of concern, the Indians were soundly thrashed by Hodge who himself scored a double century. But it was a wonderful occasion.

One more thing that I liked was that, MCG is a smoke free centre. You can drink all the beer in the world by sitting there, but there is no smoking. You just pay $2 on a student concession and you can sit wherever you want - near the fence, in the shades, on the first tier, anywhere.

The Parallel Programming Project on Genetic Algorithms that I recently completed along with Amit Bahuguna is put up on the web. You can view that by following this link.

I am very busy

I am coping with 3 project reports, 3 exams and my call center job. I dunno for anybody else, but I am finding it very stressful. Often, I get irritated at not being able to do anything else.

Jayalalithaa's Attitude

My happiness was short lived. I was happy that the Jayalalithaa government has asked all of the schools in Tamilnadu to teach the students the appropriate lessons in classes IX, X, XI and XII. I remember each of cousins going through the ordeal of learning the X std lessons in class IX itself and similarly for the XI students. I was even commenting on this to my roomates, saying that this is one decision that every parent and student would be happy and thankful to Jaya. But close on the heels, comes the news item that editors of 'The Hindu' have been ordered to be arrested by the TN Assembly. Jaya has magnanimously forgiven the editors for criticising her !!!

Read Chakra's page for more on this.

Tough Times

I am sailing in tough times now. I did not write a single line for the code presentation for the web technologies report. Someone else did it for me, and Mewan helped me in presenting the code successfully. I conceded to the lecturer that I have not completed one of the questions - my way of doing justice.. to get lower marks than others. Am I right in doing this ?

Melbourne Cup Day

Ysy was the Melbourne Cup Day for horse racing. I bid $12 for the race and lost all of it. My first try at gambling.. Well, I should say that the experience in watching the horses running after you bid is really exhilarating. Try it once.. It is worth it.

Royal Derby Day

It was the AAMIs Derby Day at the Flemington Race Courses yesterday here. It was good to see the Aussie people turning out in their finest dresses, with hats and sticks. I have read about the Royal Ascot day in England in books, but this is the first time I am seeing such an event take place. Women came out in all sorts of hats, with feathers and quills.. Some of them really looked beautiful.

No.. I dont want to say anything about the Indian loss to Australia in ysy's cricket match.
